Sunday Return Traffic: Pragmatism in Motion

Sunday Return Traffic

This playlist was inspired by a day that started with a simple goal: go out, work, and see where the road led. What followed was a collection of moments that seemed almost scripted.

The day included airport runs to Logan, a French teacher heading to France only hours after joking about the French in a family-history article, campus pickups around the Boston area, and the familiar sight of Sunday return traffic filling I-95 South. Along the way came a surprise photo from 1987, sent by my sister, showing a much younger version of myself at a school dance called Tropical Nights.

Financially, the day turned into one of those steady, pragmatic successes. The bills were covered, the week crossed the thousand-dollar mark, and every time I thought about heading home, another worthwhile ride appeared. By the end of the day, after hundreds of miles on the road, the journey concluded with a steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli at the 99 Restaurant.

The songs reflect the themes of the day: driving, work, travel, memory, unexpected connections, and the realization that sometimes reality provides better stories than anything you could plan in advance. It’s a soundtrack for a New England Sunday spent moving between the past and the present, one ride at a time.
