There is a difference between documenting gig work and turning the work itself into a production.
In this video, I look at a segment from the N-U-G-G-S YouTube channel and explain why recording commentary while driving, displaying license plates, and building content around active deliveries can create serious privacy, insurance, platform, and legal concerns.
My issue is not with the information being shared or with anybody trying to build a successful channel. The concern is how that content is being produced. One accident, complaint, or investigation could cause insurers, attorneys, or gig platforms to review years of footage and use it as evidence of a pattern.
Body cameras can protect drivers by documenting what happened at a restaurant, during a delivery, or during a customer interaction. That is different from performing for multiple cameras and microphones while operating a vehicle.
Good content should not make the rest of the gig economy more difficult, more expensive, or more restricted.
